Intersex – a muhan that has both male and female sex characteristics. People that have this rare condition are often sterile.
The replacement of pronouns.
There is a trend in some groups of rejecting the natural standard of gender and adopting new terminology. They request or demand that others use new descriptors in place of pronouns.
People requesting special terminology please understand this can violate world views of many in the general population. You are asking people to deny a natural law that has existed since before time (sundials). You are asking them to violate their integrity.
People demanding special terminology please understand this is perceived as rude that you would place your preferences above the feelings and world views of others.
A work around for people that struggle with the request but want to be sensitive to the requester is to use the legal name in place of the requested terminology.
Requesters of alternate speech please be tolerant of slips and mistakes. Respect is a two way street. You are asking for special treatment. Until a distinctly unique new gender is established scientifically this is an unreasonable request. If you are basing the request on what you think or feel, that is not gender it is a mental/emotional state. It is not someone else’s work to validate your emotional state. If you need this you should seek help. Get yourself to a healthy mental and emotional place. Gender is physical, ‘gender identity’ is mental/emotional.
Historically gender is determined by a visually or sometimes auditory based observation. It helped society to function with reduced confusion. The sentence ‘He is wearing a Hawaiian shirt with pink and white flowers on a blue background’ describes a male and his clothing with enough detail to pick that person out of a crowd of people. The ‘He’ eliminates women (half of the crowd if it’s homogeneous), the shirt descriptor eliminates anyone not wearing a shirt like that. By adopting non-pronouns in place of pronouns you are eliminating and/or confusing the use of this physical descriptor from/in your language. This can present a safety issue in emergency situations and confusion in ordinary ones.
If you are going to recognize mental/emotional states of individuals a new category of descriptor should be made and used in addition to gender instead of replacing gender. This will allow the people that are struggling with this to retain their integrity and those who want/need the new descriptors to be recognized how they want to be recognized. If you do this it could turn into something unexpectedly good or unexpectedly bad. People can be creative. If you do this for one group, it will also apply to the remainder of the population.
There should be some wide scale, open discussions about this topic. The people requesting the differing language should offer compelling arguments in easy to understand, reasonable and relatable language. Use complete sentences and form complete thoughts. Help people to understand your perspective. Use of sophistry, double speak and gas lighting during the conversation should be avoided. You will lose credibility if this is done, people won’t take you seriously, and your request or demand will be ignored.
In muhans and animals gender and sex denotes the difference of sex organs and the traits associated with that. Have they been redefined? If so, why? Who made the change? Was there wide scale discussion about it? There are ramifications to doing this that all might not be willing to or able to participate in.
Do the people requesting alternate language have sex organs that are different from male and female? If so, can they reproduce? If so, are the offspring similar to the parent or to the standard model? Determine if the individual is an anomaly or a new species.
Are sexual preferences being described? If so this isn’t gender, it’s an over share, and possibly predatory or grooming behavior if done in the presence of children. The general public should not be required to acknowledge sexual preferences of others, this should remain private.
Is there an archetypal distinction in the request? Is it distinct or indistinct from male/female? There should be a solid archetypal distinction. It should enhance or add value to the existing structure.
There are people that speak languages based on gendering people, animals and objects; by accepting these new genders these groups would also be expected to modify their language. There should be a solid basis for doing so. It should also be considered that this request/demand could be perceived as rude as it is with some glenish speakers.
Is it a power grab/manipulation?
Is this an emotional issue? Should this be encouraged? Is this fantasy bleeding into reality? Is this mental illness?
Is this self made title the equivalent of a title like Duke/Duchess, Prince/Princess?
If they really are a distinct new muhanoid type should they get a new scientific classification?
If they identify as animals, bugs or nonliving things (these are not genders) should they have the same privileges as muhans?
Words are powerful. What are you being asked/demanded to use? Is this magic of some sort? Are you giving energy to something that is worthy of receiving it?
If you can be forced to accept this world view item through the law, then you can be forced to accept other world view items like politics and religion. This would also be compelled speech and would nullify your right to free speech. Allowing this will set a precedence and eventually lead to the nullification of the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
