Law abiding citizens don’t commit crimes.
Outside of the cities, most mass shootings occur in gun free zones. Do you hear about the mass shootings occurring in cities? Some cities have alarmingly high crime rates. Crime that doesn’t fit the narrative is rarely reported nationally. Check the data for yourself.
Consider eliminating gun free zones if only the law abiding observe the law.
If you are asked to participate in a gun buy back program or asked to surrender your guns remember that the criminals won’t. The concept of gun control is ridiculous because only the law abiding are affected.
Schools
If staff are armed there will be fewer school shootings and those that do occur will be stopped faster than if the police are depended upon. Look up response times. Arm your teachers. Request/require physically able non-objecting teachers to carry the guns every day. Teach them self defense like a martial art or the equivalent. People open carrying guns should be able to maintain control of the gun. If someone can easily disarm them they shouldn’t open carry. Require regular training in both the self defense and gun use.
Consider teaming up with the military, there could be programs created that support people that want to both teach and serve the nation. These people would be great to have in schools. The army and or army national guard are obvious choices for these programs. An effort to make postings close to home would allow people to live at home while serving. Only do this if you have full confidence in the leadership of the military and the executive(s).
Put panic buttons in classrooms.
Consider having neighborhood or community armories and gun ranges.
Your constitution and bill of rights specifies that congress can raise armies and a navy and that the people have the right to form a militia. You currently have an army, navy, air force, marines, space force, coast guard and army national guard. All but the national guard have constant ongoing tasks and projects that they work on. The majority of the man-power of the national guard is usually called upon when there are special projects and extra people are needed. Some states and localities have militias formed by the people. In the past you rarely heard about these groups other than they existed and occasionally practiced together. More recently you have heard about them offering a presence at some gatherings with the intent to prevent violence or escalation from radical groups. In some places that didn’t have preexisting militia groups, gatherings were quickly formed to expel radical groups that were bussed in, that in other places caused injury and destruction. While most of these people weren’t armed with guns this should be considered a militia too. This is actually a better example of what a militia could be and how it could function. These individuals saw a potential problem and stepped up to deal with it. It could be argued from a legal perspective that they as tax payers have the right to defend public property or infrastructure as they paid for it. They are part owners. If there aren’t laws locally offering protection to do such things, it might be worthwhile to consider doing. If the wild west is being brought back by certain political groups, the response should match (as non-violently as possible). This should be given thought especially if police response times are excessive or non-existant. This isn’t to say that people should go out of their way to police others, but only that they should have the right to do so when incidents happen.
The right to bear arms is in your Bill of Rights. It is there so that you can protect yourself from an oppressive government. It has protected you so far. You should be able to buy, use and carry anything that criminals and the military do. If anyone is trying to take those rights away from you, you should be concerned. The criminals should be fearful, not you. The government should respect you.
Countries where the citizens are well armed, have the rights to use the guns and carry regularly have lower violent crime rates. Check the data yourself.
If you wanted to virtually eliminate violent crime on a nation wide scale you could:
Issue guns, ammunition, a holster and a gun safe to non-objectors that are physically able to participate and haven’t previously committed violent crime.
Guns and ammunition should be quality items and equal to or better than what is available to criminals and the military. These could be issued as actual items or a coupon for purchase.
There is an argument that certain types of guns and modifications shouldn’t be allowed. Why would you give criminals the advantage and not the honorable people? Who wants this? Why do they want it? It’s probably not the reason that they say. There should be no restrictions on gun types, add ons or modifications. There should be legislation against the practice of pricing and taxing items to discourage purchase or indefinite delay of licensing. Is it reasonable to discontinue the practice of licensing? There should be no city, state, or national registration.
Train people how to use them safely. Offer refresher training regularly. Include acceptable behavior practices in the training. Keep the standards high.
Provide regular practice time and practice ammunition at a gun range and/or other training program. People with bad aim should get extra time and ammunition to practice.
Require/request people to open or conceal carry (preferable so they aren’t a target) out in the public at least one week during a month.
Encourage physical fitness and other methods of self defense.
Legislate nation wide castle doctrine. Include property such as land, vehicles (at home and while traveling – include recreational vehicles and boats) and businesses. People should be able to protect all of their property, family/friends and livestock, not just what is inside the home.
End duty to retreat in places that have it.
Provide legal support for people that have to use the gun to defend themselves, their property or others.
If you do this crime would plummet and society would get a whole lot more polite.
Portions of the population will be initially distressed by this. As the practice becomes part of the culture the fear will subside. Many will find a great deal of comfort in the knowledge that if trouble does break out, someone nearby will put a stop to it quickly. They won’t have to wait for police to arrive.
The redefinition of terms for crimes
Use the correct descriptor: instead of sex offender use rapist, child molester, child rapist, groomer – your worried too much about the offender and not the public that has to deal with them. Stop worrying about offending the offensive people.
Violence and riots – Dereliction of duty
You should decide whether leadership of cities and towns allowing destruction of property, personal injury and death by withholding or dismissing the police, and not requesting aid, should be accountable for the crimes committed against the people in their cities and towns.
You should also decide whether leaders of the justice system that practice catch and release should also bear some of the responsibility for further damages caused by the released criminals.
