We borrowed Kate’s road builder, which was an interesting combination of machines. All the same new technology but arranged in a different way. We put in Main St., and driveways.
03.01.11 – 2000 – Log – Kate
Jackson and Maci have taken a mini vacation at the beach house. Young Jack is visiting while they are gone. We are attempting potty training.
03.01.15 – 0800 – Log – Jackson
Jack got up last night and ran out of the house. When we caught up with him he was standing next to a tree giggling. When we asked what he was doing he said ‘Pee on a tree, poop in the potty.’

I don’t know if I should shake Kate or gift her a tray of nutatos. Jack is sort of potty trained. Sort of. He poops inside and pees outside.

My darling cousin was displeased that her son ran outside to pee in the middle of the night. So, I made up some potty targets and gave them to Jack. They should have fun with them.

There was giggling in the bathroom this morning. Both of them. They were standing there aiming at a paper target in the toilet bowl.
I think I’m pregnant again. I’ll see Kate about it tomorrow.
03.01.25 – 1546 – Log – Dakota
Kate has found a flock of sun conures. They are a bright, happy flock of noise. Grace has asked her to get her one. Kate asked if she was willing to hand rear a chick and Grace said she didn’t think she could do it. Kate asked Maxwell if he would do it, and he said he would be happy to. She will take an egg and hatch it herself, and then give the hatchling to Max to raise.

Kate has asked Maci if she would like raised garden beds. Maci is preggers and Kate wants her to be able to keep gardening without having to bend down so much. She sent us several bed types to choose from and a few layouts pick from. I think Maci will take her up on the offer.
03.02.12 – 0800 – Log – Kate
We have nine children now, with another eight babies on the way. Its time to start looking at our data stores for child friendly content and educational items. There is so much stuff to go through. We are trying to give the videos age range classifications.
03.02.21 – 2000 – Log – Dakota
The conure egg hatched today. It’s an ugly bird. Maxwell was happy to take the little bird.
03.02.22 – 2221 – Log – Zane
An unpaved mountain biking path has popped up along the bike path, and a cottage at the top of the mountain. I walked most of it on the first run. I like it. Its a challenging course. Went ass over tea kettle once, I’ll be wearing a nano suit next time. Cam patched me up. Alana looked at the stitches and just shook her head. She made me some of the fruit tea that I like though. We sipped it at the fire pit and watched the sun set. This is a beautiful place.

Max calls the baby conure Little bird. They are very cute together. He is a doting parent. Her feathers came in and she’s a cute little sweety now.
03.02.13 – 2001 – Log – Ashley
Kate dropped off a pretty rock for Charlotte today. It is a creamy opaque pink color. Charlotte was very happy with it, she put it on her toy box shelf so that she can look at it when she wants to. She has over a dozen there already. We may have a dedicated shelf made just for the pretty rocks.
03.02.20 – 2000 – Log – Jackson
Kate has set the computer builder machines to work on the big oak in the yard. She is putting in a tree house. It will have a pulley elevator, a board ladder, a trapdoor, screened windows, six foot ceilings so most adults will be able to stand upright inside, a door that opens to a railed porch, and a little table and a couple of chairs. I have asked to book a camping night in it for me and Jack. He is excited about it. Maci is concerned about him falling. We’ll put up a net.
03.03.05 – 2130 – Log – Dakota
Kate is working on a flight setting for the larger transports. This version is wider and fully enclosed.
03.04.04 – 1800 – Log – Kate
Max has taught Little bird to fetch small items, and to ‘dance’ when he whistles a tune. The little girl is learning to fly and Max is so proud of her. I found a variant type of parakeets today I may get a couple of those for Grace instead of Little bird. They are just as colorful and happy and will keep each other company if she or Tyler doesn’t work with them.
03.05.04 – 1845 – Log – Jackson
We had our community meeting today. It was one of the more exciting ones. Everybody is a bit rattled.
Kate has a scouting trip planned to a spot a few continents over. She said she found an interesting geometric ‘anomaly’ from one of the sky scans that spooked her a bit. It was interesting and spooky because it looked a lot like a civics project I did in middle school. Though we weren’t in the same class Levi and Tyler remembered the project. We had brainstormed about it together. I got points for being thorough, but lost points because the teacher didn’t think it was practical enough to be functional. They protested the mark with me and we got an audience with the principal. The teacher presented the goal for the project, which I met, just not how he wanted me to. Then I got to speak. It was one of the few times that an adult had taken me seriously. It’s a core memory. Kate remembered it because Ella bought us pizza to celebrate the victory and I showed everybody my project.
Dakota had another dream. People we love from Thearn were here. She said my mama was there. We had dogs too. It sounded a lot like the dream I had after Jack was born. Maci remembered me telling her about it.
Levi suggested that we make more terminals to review the sky scanner data. There was a unanimous vote to increase data review.
03.05.04 – 1905 – Log – Levi
I am the happiest man here. I’m married to the love of my life, we have a healthy beautiful little girl and a bun in the oven, I get to fish whenever I want and all of my buddies are here. Life is easy here. Theres no crazy, mindless rush. It’s everything I’ve always wanted. It feels like it’s only going to get better. Dakota and Jack think we are going to find Thearn soon, and Kate may have found a jackpot of resources in an unusual spot. Preliminary drone footage shows plants that look like they are from Thearn. She may have found real potatoes.
03.05.04 – 2000 – Log – Dakota
Little bird is now Roo. Grace isn’t getting that bird; she and Max are best buddies.
I had a dream that apparently matched one that Jack had when young Jack was born. Interesting. Both of us dreamt about people from Thearn being here.

03.05.07 – 0700 – Log – Jackson
A scouting trip was made to the star fort that Kate found. There are potatoes there and loads of other foods too. We want to take a bunch of people and the caravan and park there to map everything out and collect samples. Right now we think that if we go with a dozen or so people it will take us about a month to collect everything.
03.05.07 – 2100 – Log – Kate
We had a meeting about the star fort. The consensus is that 35 days, give or take a few, is too long for twelve people to be gone. That got voted down right away. Everybody wants to come along. To be frank, I like that better. We can suspend the critters that we don’t take with us and ring people back to look after the important food crops. There are more of us now though, so we need more or bigger accommodations. We pulled out all of the RV’s that aren’t still in use and the children had a time climbing ladders and exploring. The thought is to make or retrofit one for each family. We will be stationary so the size doesn’t matter. We definitely need play spaces and more gathering places. Everyone has been tasked to start want lists. There is a lake nearby, but we may install a well. With the ring system we worked out setting up a well is easier than hauling water.
03.05.09 – 0600 – Log – Tyler
We’re going on a trip! I didn’t realize until now, how much I enjoyed traveling with everyone. Finding new stuff, seeing new sights, eating new foods. We are in the planning phase right now. Lists are being made, Kate is designing new family sleds. We have a landing area for samples marked out, and a temporary warehouse is being fabricated. A few of us are going to the peninsula to get iron and other odds and ends. We need shelving, storage containers, and more suspension units. We will get solid units from the old settlement.
03.05.12 – 0805 – Log – Maci
Kate has come up with several designs for shelter sleds. There is a debate going if they should be full RV’s or not. All of them have full sized bathrooms with tubs and washer/dryers. Some have kitchenettes. All have the slide out sides like the old style RV’s and sleeping porch style roofs for those that want to sleep in the fresh air. She has made connecting platforms for the roofs. Swings, slides, canopies and shade structures. There is one dedicated as a meeting place that will hold all of us, another smaller one for naps and quiet time for the children. There are two massive outdoor kitchen sleds, one indoor kitchen, one for poultry, and a new science sled. The existing medical sled will come with us. We will have everything we had the first time and then some. Cam has updated a doormat with the same technology that the insta-cleaners have. No one uses them for clothes, but I wonder if they may become a thing for shoes.
All of the fabricators are running. Those that picked out their sled style early are already moving in and testing the systems. Charlotte is in love with their ‘new house.’ Kate gave her a slide off of the roof, a swing and a bounce house that everyone big enough to try, has tried, including Jack and Levi. Her tricycle will go in the big meeting room. Kate put a projector in the ceiling that projects a path for her to drive around on. I suspect if it is warm enough a giant inflatable slide like we had on the gap trip will show up. She has upgraded the perimeter fencing that will go around the sleds and the poultry, I suspect more so that littles don’t wander off. We haven’t seen any large predators in the area yet. We have seen deer. Everyone is looking forward to venison. If we mow and are careful where we put everything, we shouldn’t have to worry too much about snakes. Though everyone will be on the lookout for them.
03.05.20 – 0900 – Log – Becca
We have been given the ‘Ok’ to ring to the star fort. The set up group has cleared it, ringed the sleds in, set up the connecting walkways, toys, and put leveling plates in front of the entries. The fences are up. They found water right away. The well is in, and the storage tanks are being filled. Everything is just about ready for us. Those with mobile children have put tracking bracelets on them just in case.
03.05.21 – 0600 – Log – Jackson
We have our chore assignments. It’s different camping with children. Charlie wants to come with us. I don’t want to be the one to tell her no, but it isn’t safe until we have cleared the ground and put up fencing. I thought Kate packed way too many toys, but she isn’t interested in them. Any of them. Kate even brought back out the video games from before. Even Levi wants to play those again. Charlie wants to be with us.
03.05.21 – 1831 – Log – Kate
We set up a grid and looked through the first square today. Charlie was devastated because she wasn’t allowed to come with us. I added to the grid and put a fence around it. It will be Charlie’s area to explore. We’ll even give her a scanner to use. We’ll borrow Snarf, he can explore her portion of the grid. Someone can come and babysit while the rest of us look. We can put a suspension field around and under the enclosure to stop any creepy crawlies in the area.
03.05.22 – 1531 – Log – Tyler
Kate is a genius. She set up a spot for Charlie and just about bubble wrapped it. We brought her today. Kate gave her a scanner, showed her how to use it and told her they would have a special rock hunting expedition if she found a new food. And don’t you know she did just after the midday meal. I didn’t think that there was anything over there for her to find. We did a quick visual and it was a nothing burger, it looked like a safe spot to let her trample. She found a new type of millet. It isn’t in seed yet, but it will be and the birds will love it. Now we have to think up new things to bribe her with. Though I think she will be happy enough with multiple rock hunting trips.
03.05.22 – 1641 – Log – Jackson
Kate brought Charlie, Snarf, Ashley, Jamie and Jacob with us today. She set the supervisors up in one of the old style RV’s. They have food, a place to rest and places to play. This RV has a poop closet so it’s handy for us too. I thought it was going to end in disaster. I thought for sure Charlie would get bored after a little bit and want to go back, but she lasted the day. She even found millet in a spot that we thought wasn’t a spot. Kate and I looked at the area, there wasn’t much that got trampled. We moved ‘Charlie’s spot’ into the grid to an area next to where we were, because she will probably want to come again.
Kate got that look in her eye that said she had an idea. When we got back she made up a bunch of those special shoe coverings that she made for the gap trip for everyone that could or might want to join us. Charlie got a pair too. The settings are a bit different, they will keep us from trampling the greenery. She also made up a miniature body armor for Charlie. She put an auto-ring device on it and designated a landing area for it.
03.05.23 – 0531 – Log – Kate
Today Charlie is getting an unchecked spot. She earned it. There are six adults going to work, her square is smack in the middle. She did such a good job on that crappy spot yesterday, I feel bad that I gave it to her. I thought she would get bored, trample everything and leave.
03.05.23 – 1645 – Log – Ashley
Charlie made it through another full day. Well six hours. I thought for sure she would want to get back and play. She found twenty two foods today. Eighteen are new.
03.05.23 – 1755 – Log – Jackson
Charlie is racking up the rock hunting trips! She found more foods than I did. Levi took her and Edie with him when he went fishing, so we can knock one off of the list. She came back with what looks like a little chuck of gold. She said she got it out of the river.
03.05.23 – 1847 – Log – Tyler
So, Charlie found more foods today than Jack, Neil and myself, and I don’t know if we should look at the spot again, have her look at our spots or just move on. Will have to discuss it with the others before tomorrow. She has a knack for finding pretty rocks, it didn’t occur to me that the skill would translate to other objects.
03.05.23 – 2045 – Log – Kate
Tyler is having a bit of cognitive dissonance over Charlie doing as well as she did with the scanning. Jack might be too, but he is being quiet about it. She found the third most items. Pretty good for a wee one. She approaches it differently than we do. We think we know what food looks like, so we tend to reject the stuff that doesn’t look familiar. Charlie looks at everything, she doesn’t have biases that will discount anything. It’s interesting because Kurt was second best and he considers himself an amateur at everything. He soaks up knowledge like a sponge. Add that to the willingness to try pretty much anything and that makes him highly valuable. There is also the possibility that those squares just had more foods, but the only way to know that would be to second check all of the squares again. It might be worthwhile to come back later in the year and take another look. Or just put cameras in.
03.05.23 – 2105 – Log – Maci
Jack is psyching himself up for tomorrow. He is determined to beat at least Neil and Tyler for number of vegetables found.
03.05.24 – 1145 – Log – Kate
Jack and Tyler are off the rails today. They’re trying to outdo each other, like when we were in grade school. Ashley is openly laughing at them. Charlotte is thankfully oblivious to her uncles antics. I’ve asked Grace and Maci to invent something to call them back to camp in the afternoon. If they leave early the numbers competition should go away, because the standard of measurement is gone.
03.05.24 – 1735 – Log – Jackson
Levi called us in from the search to help him with some fish. He said he caught a lot but the river was full of them and he wanted help both catching and moving back to the camp. He asked us to bring anything that could water hold with us. He said Maci was fabricating aquariums and to bring them with us on some transport sleds.
03.05.24 – 1825 – Log – Ashley
Tyler, Jack and Kurt got called away and the babies were asleep, so I took over Tyler’s square. I found nine new vegetables in two hours. I may ask Becca to rearrange the chore list so that I can do this again tomorrow. Jack can watch Charlie.
03.05.24 – 2100 – Log – Kate
The thought occurred that it might be useful to have a recreation center. Our population is expanding, and if Dakota and Jack’s dreams are correct it will expand even more. I’m going to suggest it at the next meeting.
03.05.27 – 2210 – Log – Zane
Kate suggested making a rec. center. She said that as we grow it might be useful to have. We voted on it and the consensus was that people want to know what would go into it? What would its purpose be? What kind of amenities? Everybody has been tasked with making a want list.
03.05.29 – 2300 – Log – Jackson
Kate had the idea to make a rec. center. So we all made want lists, and compiled them together, shoved it at Kate and asked if it could be done. And if it could what kind of materials would it require? It’s quite a list.
03.06.08 – 2310 – Log – Zane
So Kate presented a proposal for the rec. center. The initial plan is to build it in four parts, and if we want to grow it after that we can. Section 1 would be a gymnasium for tumbling, another for weights, cardio and a climbing wall, a dance room, and a trampoline room. Section 2 would have: bathrooms with showers, hot tubs, saunas, cold tubs, a steam room, first aid, and a giant meeting hall that doubles as a basketball/floor hockey court with pull out bleachers. Section 3 would have a nap area, a cafeteria/kitchen, a children’s play area and an area for a library or museum. Section four would have an arcade, batting cages, billiard tables, bowling lanes and a sound studio for people that can’t make noise at home. After the fourth one was done a track connecting them all would be built. There could be a courtyard in the middle or not. Optional add ons were a go cart track, a pool, an actual theater (instead of using the meeting hall), and a drive in movie theater.
03.06.20 – 2004 – Log – Kate
We finished locating and cataloging. We have collected what can be collected right now. There are cameras on areas of interest. Some of us will come back as plants come into fruit. If we are successful growing these at home, we will have increased our food variety by at least 500%. We found a type of flax that we may be able to make linen from. Tyler has another batch of honey bees suspended.
We are loaded up with fish, venison, turkey, beef and are bringing back half a dozen suspended hogs. We found a new type of poultry and are bringing some of those back. If they survive we will let the children name them. They have to do better than we did with ‘birbs.’
03.07.07 – 1302 – Log – Tyler
Kate has gifted Grace a couple of brightly colored parakeets. They are happy little critters. She set them up with a flight cage, a mess of toys, food and minerals and suggested that we let them out to have longer flights every day. She gave us millet on the stem and said that we could hand train them by sitting by the cage and hand feeding it to them. Grace is in love with them. They chatter and flirt with her.
03.07.12 – 2002 – Log – Kate
Ten days ago Dakota asked for a list of wolf dens. The idea of raising a wolf cub to be a companion animal has been tossed around the group almost since we got settled in, but no one has done it yet. She and Cam came back today and dropped a baby fox off for me to raise up and train for a companion for Charlotte. It’s a bad idea. She is pregnant and not thinking rationally. Cam is apparently bathing in the same hormonal stew that Dakota is.
I call him Little Fox. He has an expressive little tail with a slight curl at the tip. I suspect he may have been altered, probably to give him domesticated traits so that he is more friendly and easier to manage.
03.09.04 – 2000 – Log – Kate
Little Fox has pottied outside consistently for three days, I am pleased. I know he does it for the treats, but he does it.
03.09.15 – 2000 – Log – Jackson
Kate called Little Fox ‘Hem’ the other day. I laughed so hard. Camden is feeling guilty that they dumped the little fellow off on her. Young Jack is still too little, Charlie needs to have a buddy, it just seemed like the best alternative.’
Kate tripped over him three times today, but he can sit on command and stay for a short time, and he gnaws on people less now. He gets bored fast. She keeps him busy so that he stays out of trouble.
Tyler and Zane have been by to play with him (separately) and asked to be considered if it doesn’t work with Charlotte. Kate is relieved that there is interest in him. I would like him, but Maci has said no to a fox, she would rather wait for a doggo or even a wolf.
03.09.22 – 2000 – Log – Kate
Ashley came by today alone to visit with Little Fox. We discussed what life would be like with him and what to expect. Everyone will have to learn how to manage him, but she will be the primary care and treat giver. She likes him and will bring Charlotte by to visit.
03.09.23 – 2000 – Log – Kate
Ashley, Ryan, Jamie, Jacob and Charlotte came by today to see Little Fox. Playing ensued. I fabricated outside toys that are child friendly too and the two of them played so hard a nap was required. He is gentle and calm with Jamie and Jacob, which surprised everyone. Ashley had been planning on using barriers for all of their safety. Jamie doesn’t always know his strength and Little Fox is still little. Charlotte has named him Dash because he dashes about.
I designed a backyard enclosure for Dash should he get too rowdy or destructive to be inside. It will have equipment that the children can play on as well. We set up the fabricator and the computer builder machine in the yard, it will be done tomorrow. I have started packing some of his things, he will be moving tomorrow. I set him up with a bio monitor just in case. Ashley and Ryan will use it as a safety precaution (it monitors for aggression and stress) and also a tracking device if needed. Everyone will continue to work with him and hopefully his manners will continue to improve.
03.10.23 – 2000 – Log – Ashley
Story time has been added to the community chore list. We voted on it last night.
Kate reads to Charley every other day, and one day I offered to babysit young Jack so that Maci and Jackson could attend a community harvest event together. He enjoyed it and a napped with Charley afterwards. Jack is not a regular napper, Kate will ‘borrow’ him occasionally so that Maci can get some rest. Maci was surprised by his napping and asked if Jack could participate in the next story time, she wanted to see if it was just a fluke. He napped again. Marley soon joined the group. Bartering was started in exchange for my time minding the group and Kate’s reading time. Other readers were added and it became an everyday event, occasionally moving locations when we have conflicting plans. The plus side of it becoming a community endeavor is that now the time counts towards the vote eligibility. I suspect as the community grows a lunch may be added in before hand. Everybody loves Maci and Edie’s cooking.
03.10.25 – 1612 – Log – Ashley
Kate has invited Charlotte over for a ‘tea party.’ Dash is invited as well. Kate said that pull on twirly skirts will be provided and that she doesn’t need to wear nice clothes because they will just be covered up and probably get dirty anyway. Charlie is ecstatic.
03.10.26 – 2415 – Log – Jackson
Kate called an emergency meeting at 2000. She looked like she was in shock. She said she found Thearn.
We watched the recordings first.
Thearn was there. She sent a sky scanner to look around. It got there sometime during the 1940’s. Kate readjusted and got the early 2000’s found a bank sign with the date and time on it, adjusted again and got the next ring perfect. We saw the wedding, with all the guests, our families. Mama was there looking beautiful. And then the ships filled the sky, flashes of light, people gone, and people returned. I saw Josh there! Ethan, Harris, Gwen and Olivia weren’t. I would have thought we would have rescued them from the droids and dropped them back off. Maybe we decided to save that population from them and put them somewhere else. Maybe we left them as they are.
03.10.27 – 1400 – Log – Jackson
We had an early meeting to discuss our thoughts. Everyone but Josh wants to stay. We all want our families back and a few of us would like to offer citizenship to friends. We decided to put together lists of people that we want to ask to live here.
Kate mentioned that she got a message in the emergency box to make houses. She has quite a few of them hidden.
Next we discussed Josh. There was a comment that we could put him (Josh) back in nano-bath and reset him back a few years. People might not even notice that he is a little older. We could just drop him back off at the wedding. From the sky scanner recording it looks like we did.
03.10.28 – 1015 – Log – Dakota
Josh is suspended and in a nano bath. He was so excited to go back. Kate is working on replicating the clothes that he wore the wedding day, he couldn’t find his uniform when we went back to check.
03.10.28 – 1235 – Log – Kate
Josh couldn’t find his uniform, so I ringed to his apartment in the old settlement just after we left for the gap trip and grabbed it from his closet. He will have a little more muscle mass than when we got here, but it shouldn’t be too noticeable and the clothes are roomy enough that they should still fit.
03.10.28 – 1511 – Log – Tyler
We could go back to Thearn for seeds and livestock that we haven’t found here. Some of us will go back to ask our friends and relatives if they want to join us. Visiting will have to be done carefully.
03.10.30 – 0925 – Log – Becca
We decided to bring our people in one family at a time. Cam won the first slot. He went to speak with with his parents today. They were happy to see him and are willing to come here. He only went back to the evening that we were taken on. They will take a few days to tie up some loose ends and then come here. We already have the house ready. Kate has quite the stash of them. Cam is relieved that his father won’t have to care for his mother alone. Ashley and Jackson won the next slot. They went to see Audra. She can’t wait to see her grand-babies, but refuses to come without Miss Whitman. Miss Whitman is willing to come as long as she can bring her cats and Nemoy. Nemoy is also a cat, but he came from Miss Wallace who died a month ago (for her). Apparently he has bad manners and she is embarrassed that she hasn’t broken him of his habits yet.
Kate doesn’t have a time slot yet but went to see her family. They were excited to see her. She showed up the same evening that we were taken, but a lot had happened in those eight hours. Pete’s father is now suing for custody. He somehow found out Pete existed, knew his mom was gone, and knew Kate had custody. It boggles the mind that he didn’t just come by and meet them. Nope he went straight to lawsuit. He doesn’t want a friendly acquaintance. He wants full custody and no further contact. He has a good case.
03.10.31 – 1521 – Log – Maci
Jackson and Ashley are battling it out as to who Audra will live with. Kate asked why she can’t get her own house. We have enough houses, she made a bunch of them, and put them in beautiful places. We even have the RV’s if we need them.
Kate put a cabin on stilts out over the ocean. The water is so clear. I want to have a vacation there. She has another at a hot spring. Lovely restful place. We had a vote on which ones to use for housing and which ones to leave for holiday spots and both of those will stay where they are. Kate has started an addition on her house for Miss Whitman. It will be like an in-law suite. Close enough to help out with house and food but she will still have some privacy. Kate is even adding a catio.
03.11.02 – 1604 – Log – Kate
Audra is moving in with me! Ashley and Jack are flabbergasted. She wants to stay and help out with Miss Whitman. We have enough room. There are four rooms upstairs. I will move into my studio, the children will have their own rooms and Audra will get my bedroom.
Well Pete will get a room if he decides to come. His father showed up, well his lawyer actually. He is suing for custody. He doesn’t seem to want to be friends, so I expect if Pete goes with him that will be it. Ella invited him over for dinner to meet his son. I guess we’ll see how it goes. They will wait to come here until Pete decides.
03.11.09 – 2000 – Log – Becca
The addition at Kates house is done, Jack ringed Audra in yesterday. She was thrilled to see everybody but especially the grand babies.
I didn’t know before that Ashley was adopted. Audra said that Jackson was about four when they adopted her. Her husband was in an accident and died when Jack was eight.
Miss Whitman will come after Audra settles in.
Kate vetted Pete’s father and his wife, it seems to have gone well. They may have not demonstrated great social skills with the lawsuit but both seem to be well liked by the people they interact with. She sent these little bug sized drones to follow them around.
Grady and Ella will choose a home when they get here.
03.11.11 – 1511 – Log – Audra
This place is beautiful. Young Jack, the little darling, looks just like his father did. He talked my ear off and showed me all of his favorite places. Charlotte is a sweet girl, she showed me Dolly, a pretty fish Jackson gave her, and gave me her most favorite rock. It is a lovely dark metallic blue. I told her that I would keep it on my dresser and she could come and look at it any time. Kate says that she can get a replacement for it if the pangs of sadness get to big for her. Dash is delightful, but I’m glad he lives with Ashley and not Kate. He is a ball of energy. I got to hold all the babies and napped in the chair with a couple of them. There is no rush here. No crazy. They work when they need to and play the rest of the time. They are very community focused and have group meals regularly.
03.11.13 – 1321 – Log – Dakota
Miss Whitman was ringed in yesterday. Maci and Edie filled her with good food. She is pleased with her suite and loves the catio that Kate made. Nemoy was missing, Miss Whitman said that he got out when the home health aid left.
03.11.17 – 1501 – Log – Jackson
Miss Whitman is here. She loves having the children around and has been reading for story time. Nemoy apparently snuck out when the home health aid left. We checked in at the humane society and found out that he had ended up there. He was given a bad hair cut, and adopted by a young family. Kate is well set up for the other cats Oliver and Tux. She has toys, beds, shelves in high places and hiding spots everywhere.
03.11.24 – 2000 – Log – Dakota
Grady, Ella, and Emily are here! Grady and Ella have selected a home, it’s been placed and the systems are being hooked up. Kate is glowing. It’s weird without Pete, I think Kate may have a way to keep track of him. She doesn’t seem upset that he isn’t here. None of them are. I suppose they plan to visit him. I suspect Kate made Peter Sr. see reason.
03.12.10 – 1801 – Log – Jackson
Emily and Charlotte are inseparable. It’s a relief and a blessing that they like each other. It’s selfish of me, but I am grateful that Emily is here for Charlotte. She is solid and level headed, she will reign in some of Charlotte’s willfulness and Charlotte will relax Emily into a slightly wilder girl. They are going to have some fun.
It’s a bummer that Pete chose to stay. He is just about Jacks age. They would have gotten along really well. I understand it though. Kate sent drones to vet his father and step-mom, I suspect she will continue to keep an eye on them. If it doesn’t work out she will just take him back.
03.12.11 – 1905 – Log – Tyler
Kate has made a commercial of sorts about our world, and has asked people to add narration and description. It has a good number of us in it, and lots of locations, many that I’ve never seen and would like to. We will eventually start bringing in non-family members; she wanted to have it available for that. She has a cabin on stilts over crystal clear water. There is a tree house in the jungle, a home at some hot springs, video of nahnas and Georges clan, video from our gap trip (both landscapes and campsite life), all kinds of wildlife. She has documented our improvements and our village. I have asked for a tour of all the new places.
03.12.12 – 0915 – Log – Camden
Kate built a lot of houses! We have enough for our families. Though I think a few of the unmarried siblings are initially planning to just move in with their host family. A couple of them said that they would be perfectly happy in an RV to start. She’s still building homes, she isn’t hiding them anymore. The friends may want to bring their families, and we hope that they will have people that they want to bring in. We want to grow the community.
Zane and Tyler ringed back to when we got the original twelve trees and got more for her. Everybody agreed that it wouldn’t change the time line to do it. The trees were already knocked down, it seems a shame to let them go to waste. Tyler is running the community saw mill and Zane is running Kate’s nano version. We have trips planned to get copper and iron.
03.12.22 – 1804 – Log – Jackson
Kate has vetted her nephews father and his wife. They seem like good people. They wanted custody and Pete wanted to try it, so it is being tried. Kate has visited with him. She says he seems happy. Kate’s only worry is that they might spoil him a bit.
03.12.23 – 2107 – Log – Kate
People have started want lists. Miss Whitman had a craving for a grilled cheese sandwich, the kind with the processed cheese and batter type bread. We don’t have the template for it in the fabricator. Edie and Maci have been working on it, but haven’t managed anything close yet. I’m tempted to ring back and just buy some, but I don’t want to be seen on camera.
03.13.01 – 0030 – Log – Kate
I woke up in the night thinking about Emmy and Pete’s story. I’m going to do it.
03.13.01 – 1601 – Log – Kate
Done. I recorded the patterns (bread, cheese and sandwich) for the fabricator. I told the group about it at the meeting and then served them grilled cheese. We discussed going back to buy seeds, plants and livestock. The biggest stumbling block is money. For those of us that want newer varieties of seeds we could just go back and order them so that they arrive around the time we are taken (or buy them in person). That part is easy. For most of the live plants and livestock we need to find a way to get currency and either disguise ourselves or go back far enough in time that we aren’t recognized. The only way I can think of to get money without much notice is to go back to the gold rush. We could trade gold for cash, buy stuff, hide it, reclaim it later on, then sell the antiques. We might be able to do that with currency too, but I think it would be more noticeable. Levi volunteered to go, Zane did too. Zane suggested that they could say that they are brothers, they look enough alike that it is believable.
03.13.02 – 1800 – Log – Tyler
Kate took a bunch of us on a tour of the mystery places on her video commercial. We even went to places that weren’t on the video. Wow! She has a gorgeous ranch out in the middle of nowhere that wasn’t on the available house list. There is a livestock shelter, water trough and she said that she improved the surrounding fields so that the sheep hang around. Apparently she shears these sheep and wanted a bathroom and running water out there. Jackson wants the building for Audra when she is ready for her own place. Kate said that she would just build her a new one. She saved the plans for it, all she has to do is call up the program and keep the machines supplied with the materials.
I asked to watch her house building process. She said that she would show me how to do it if I wanted to learn.
03.13.15 – 2200 – Log – Dakota
Cam wants a shed/workshop/man-cave and has asked Kate if he can use her builder machine to make it. She has been showing him how it works, and how to get his project programed in the computer.
