07.10.30 – 1530 – Log – Marta
There has been a request for someone to start music lessons for the children. I offered my services for the piano. I think Maci may want to sign young Jack up for that. He doesn’t seem interested. Dakota suggested something more basic like what we had in kindergarden and the early grades. Sticks, triangles and tambourines. Maybe some recorder stuff. Not really my thing.
07.10.30 – 1502 – Log – Dakota
Someone put in a request for music lessons for the children and they all want to be on the drums. Poor Marta.
07.10.31 – 1812 – Log – Maci
Kate has submitted a lesson plan for a term of boomwhacker music making. There are three songs to learn and then a recital. All the children want to do it. Even the littles. She is willing to take anyone that can follow instruction. This should be interesting.
07.11.03 – 2000 – Log – Elbert
Kate has started the boomwhacker instruction. She has had one class to discuss what they were and to let everyone try them out. Following classes will be with three children at a time. After everyone learns their part in the first song there will be a combined practice.
07.11.12 – 2000 – Log – Elbert
Boomwhacker practice is going quite well, a full band practice is scheduled in three days. If it goes well they will start the next song at the next small group practice. Kate is planning to teach them three songs and then have a recital.
07.11.32 – 1821 – Log – Maci
The recital is tomorrow, Charley is ecstatic because she got a new dress for it. It’s properly twirly. Jack isn’t quite so excited because he will have to wear proper shoes.
07.12.02 – 2000 – Log – Elbert
Kate has set up the tables for boomwhackers in the gathering space at the activities building. Traditionally people sit and strike their thigh with the boomwhackers. Kate has made a stabilized cushion set on a table at an appropriate height for them to strike. The children do their practice standing and will perform standing. Everyone is excited.
07.12.03 – 2105 – Log – Jackson
The concert was a wild success. They all did a great job. The children want to do it again. Some of the moms are thinking dancing lessons.
07.12.05 – 2110 – Log – Maci
I’ve put a want request on the board for ballroom dance lessons for Jack and Brook.
07.14.15 – 2000 – Log – Elbert
Kate found bamboo today. I believe that she plans to make some into flooring in one of her homes.
